It’s been a while, but the NBA preseason and previews have been taking up a lot of my time. And now that the basketball season has tipped off, I can finally turn my attention back to the world of football.

As we watch our teams play out the early part the season, we’ll sit down with friends and indulge in which superstar player can be bought in to help take our teams to the next level. 

Well here it is. The top rumours going around and and we’ll discuss which ones make sense and which ones don’t.

1. Arsenal’s terrific start hasn’t ended their pursuit for a striker, and it seems that the Ozil signing may not be the last world class acquisition made by Wenger this year. Recently, the rumours starting popping up the Daily Star’s Jack Wilson claiming Arsenal are ready to end El Shaarawy’s nightmare season at AC and make him their next marquee signing in January. With Arsenal’s depth already being tested this week, and Wenger openly looking for a striker coming into this season, El Shaarawy would be a terrific signing and would most certainly be a realistic target. Again, it comes down to how much is Wenger willing to pay for a guy who’s been riding the bench for majority of the early season?
2. I reported earlier on in this season that once Christian Benteke showed that last season was no fluke, the big clubs would come knocking immediately. At the time of previous report, I spoke of the Manchester United link from The Mirror’s Alan Nixon, however, with Rooney and Van Persie beginning to find some form again, it’s more than likely that Moyes will look to strengthen other areas that need attention. The Spurs are the other team in which I spoke of and that link has recently resurfaced, with Simon Jones of The Daily Mail Online claiming the Spurs are preparing a 28million pound bid. This seems likely with the Spurs playing well defensively, however, struggling to kill teams off up front.
3. Everyone seems to keep ignoring the fact that Lewandowski has his heart set on Bayern Munich. Currently, according to Jack Wilson in The Express, top premier league clubs have been offered a cut price rate for him, so that Dortmund could keep him out of the clutches of their rival. I believe that Dortmund don’t have a say in the matter and no matter how much people keep telling us otherwise, it is my contention that he will end up at his preferred destination in Bayern Munich.
