Watch an ultra rare piece of footage of MJ taking on rookie Corey Benjamin in an one on one contest. This pick up game took place during the 1999-2000 season, between MJ’s second and third retirements. The Bulls were really struggling during the post championship years and MJ paid a visit to the Bulls practice facility to help boost team morale and kick Benjamin’s ass, who said he could take MJ one on one.
‘NEXT!’
Jordan, two years removed from his second retirement, and about 37 at the time showed Benjamin that he was still the game’s greatest player by dazing him out with some vintage moves. You can clearly see that a motivated Jordan still had what it took to play in the half court game and the competitiveness certainly hand’t waned during his layoff.
Jordan also tried to put to rest any comeback talk at the time, however, his denials would prove to be premature, as he would come back to play with the Wizards two years later.
