Speculation over Real Madrid’s fee for Gareth Bale has been officially put to rest, as we now have confirmation of the actual amount outlaid for the Welshman’s services.
When questioned on the Intereconomia television channel about whether the newest ‘Galactico’ was insured for 91 million Euros (USD $123 million) if an injury was to end his career, club president Florentino Perez didn’t shy away from the question and replied with: “yes, sure”.
The fee had previously not been officially disclosed by both Tottenham (Bale’s former club) nor Real with a number of fees thrown out there as pure speculation.
This will put Ronaldo’s mind at ease, as it confirms that he is STILL the world’s most expensive player, costing 94 million Euros when he moved from Manchester United in 2009.
Perez also added that Bale has recovered from a thigh injury and is hoping to play on Saturday.
