Kobe Bryant is known for his killer instinct and being a self motivator. This certainly hasn’t changed while he is rehabbing and he has taken to Twitter to help remind us that he coming for the critics.
On Friday, Kobe Bryant changed his photo (or avatar) on Twitter to the “1225”.
Kobe is yet to comment on the change, but the numbers are clearly linked to the recent ESPN player ranking in which he was listed at the 12th best player in the conference and 25th in the entire league.
That’s a drop from last season in which he was ranked as the 6th best player-he publicly expressed his displeasure at that ranking as well.
Bryant is currently recovering from an achilles’ tendon tear, with no timetable to return, although he has recently amped the rehab over the last few weeks.
If Kobe expressed his displeasure about being ranked outside the top 5 for the last couple of season, you know he is fuming at these current rankings. I’m not too sure if they’re taking the injury into account, but whatever the criteria is, no doubt that Kobe is above the likes of Roy Hibbert.
There’s no telling how effective Bryant will be coming back after such a devastating injury at the age of 35, however, ESPN has ensured that he will come back with vengeance.
Maybe this was a ploy to ensure that the Lakers play Kobe and he comes back early to bring up ratings and make the Lakers relevant? I’m not too sure, but whatever their reasons were, you can bet the ‘black mamba’ is looking at those numbers everyday, along with the millions of his followers.
